New era for the Pet City group and new shareholder the BC Partners as of 12/21. BC Partners is one of the largest and most experienced private equity groups in Europe. Its funds under management are in excess of €40 billion and it has a significant investment track record in pet and the broader animal health area. Notably, aside from Pet City, BC Partners is also the current majority shareholder of PetSmart, the largest brick-and-mortar pet retailer in North America with over 1,650 stores, Chewy, the largest online pet retailer in the same region, and VetPartners, the leading operator of small animal, mixed and equine veterinary practices in the UK.
